Christmas Decorations - 12/19/1943
A Weasel had been seen in the neighborhood of the Teenie Weenie village, and the little people stayed mighty close to the shoe house. A sparrow reported that three chickens, from one of the big houses near the village, were missing. Two mice had disappeared and the squirrels and chipmunks didn't venture far from home. "Oh dear!" wailed the Lady of Fashion. "Now I suppose we can't get any Christmas decorations. I was counting on using cedar branches and mountain ash berries to decorate the house for our Christmas party." "Say!" said the Dunce. "No old weasel can scare me. I'll get your decorations for you if some of the other fellows will go along." Gogo, the Turk and the China- man offered to help, and the four little men set off for the woods. It had snowed a little and they watched for weasel tracks, but they saw no sign of the savage little beast. They found a cedar tree and cut off a branch. Then they were lucky to find a small bunch of mountain ash berries lying on the ground. The Dunce shouldered the berries, and the other Teenie Weenies started off for home dragging the cedar branch over the snow. The little chaps hadn't gone far when they heard a noise beneath some low-hanging balsam boughs. The four Teenie Weenies glanced at the tree just as a weasel peered out at them with his beady little eyes. "ME GO!" shouted the Chinaman, and he started for home in great leaps, only touching the ground about every four inches. The other Teenie Weenies nearly trampled on the Chinaman's heels in their eagerness to reach home. "Oh, you didn't bring the decorations!" cried the Lady of Fashion. "No, ma'am," panted Gogo. "We didn't want fo' to be held back by any ol' Christmas decorations when we started fo' home." The Lady of Fashion was so disappointed she nearly cried, but the General promised to recover the decorations, and he kept his word. He went over to one of the big houses where a friendly dog lived. The dog gladly went along to guard the little men. The Teenie Weenies found the cedar branch and mountain ash berries and carried them home without ever seeing the weasel. The Lady of Fashion was able to decorate the town hall for the Teenie Weenies annual Christmas party, and all the little folk had fun.
