An Uninvited Guest - 12/24/1944

The Teenie Weenies decided not to invite guests to their Christmas party. They would have had to invite the respectable mice if they had guests and then Ginky would be jealous and make trouble.

The Teenie Weenie men had brought in sprigs of pine and cedar and some mountain ash berries to decorate the old felt hat which the little folks used for a town hall. The top of a small spruce tree was used for a Christmas tree. The top was set into a wooden spool to make if stand up and then the spool was covered with colored paper. The tree was decorated with mountain ash berries, strings of colored seeds and paper ornaments as well as a few Teenie Weenie candles. It was a very pretty tree.

On Christmas Eve the little people began making ready for the party. They put presents around the tree, lighted the tiny candles on it and lit the cherry seed lamps that sat on little brackets around the hat wall. Teenie Weenie candles were lit and set in the hall windows and the old hat appeared very pretty and cheerful. The Cook had made two thimblefuls of doughnuts and there was candy and a thimbleful of grape juice and two acorn baskets filled with chopped frog ham sandwiches.

When everything was about ready for the party to begin there came a loud knock at the door. The Policeman opened the door and there stood Ginky.

"You can't come in here, Ginky," the Policeman told the mouse. "You are not invited."

Ginky began to cry, but the Teenie Weenies knew he was just trying to make them sorry for him so they would relent and invite him to the party.

"Go away, Ginky," the Policeman told him; "we don't want you around here."

Ginky flew info a rage. He knocked the Policeman down, ran info the hall and pushed over the Christmas tree. The Lady of Fashion screamed and the Teenie Weenie men closed in on the mouse. Ginky fought like a weasel and no doubt some of the little men would have been badly hurt if the Dunce hadn't knocked Ginky senseless with a Teenie Weenie chair. When the Christmas free fell most of the tiny candles went out, but one of the candles set fire to the tree and the Cook had to throw on the thimbleful of grape juice to put out the blaze.

The Teenie Weenies dragged Ginky out and put him in the fruit jar which the little people used for a jail. Then they repaired the damage done in the hall and went through with the party, and it was one the nicest parties the Teenie Weenies had ever had.
